Combo Guard Kevin Franceschi just inked his transfer to UMKC men’s basketball on Wednesday, inking transfer combo guard. Kevin was previously playing for a Junior College at Weatherford College, TX. This French dude that I’ve been following since his young age has always been targeting a Division 1 College since he was fourteen years old. Head coach Kareem Richardson made his goal come true hiring him in Kansas City to be part of the 2014 class.
“We are very excited to welcome Kevin to our family,” Richardson said. “He is a very talented guard that will add depth to our backcourt, but more importantly, he has proven to be a high character student-athlete.”
The ‘Roos will also add three redshirts to the lineup next season, two of which had to sit out due to Division I transfer rules. UMKC has two returning starters in WAC Freshman of the Year Martez Harrison, as well as fellow Kansas City product Frank Williams. UMKC brings back five letterwinners as well.

Franceschi joins the ‘Roos after two seasons at Weatherford College in Texas where he played for two different coaches… He played every game as a freshman in his first season in the United States, averaging 7.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per game, with a high scoring contest of 20 points… As an amateur in France, he played in the U18 National Division I League for Tarbes Lourdes, where he averaged 27 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds a game, and scored 30+ points in seven games… His season-high was 44 points… He was featured in Reverse, one of the most widely read basketball magazines in France as one of the best young players in the nation.
